In this episode, Deanna reflects on attending grade school in Burbank, IL during the 1970's. This was a time of tremendous growth in the area and many more schools were built to accommodate the area's young population, however her childhood home was inside the borders of E.J. Tobin - the same school Eugene attended 30 years earlier. The 1970s was a decade of transformation in education and we talk about the metric system, vaccinations, and incorporating the technology of the time, TV in the classroom.

In 1975, the United States passed the Metric Conversion Act. The legislation was meant to slowly transition its units of measurement from feet and pounds to meters and kilograms, bringing the US up to speed with the rest of the world. There was only one issue: the law was completely voluntary. Of course, that meant it pretty much never took off.
